To attain the historical accuracy requested by the client, the units are constructed of douglas fir with traditional joinery and are single glazed with wood storm window inserts. In an effort to increase energy efficiency for the single glazing, Grabill will provide low-E glass in the storms that improve the efficiency from .7 to .4 U-Value. These include triple hung windows with concealed balances or weight and chain operation, and pivot windows with brass or bronze recast lever-actuated hardware.
