In Progress: Avalanche Impact Window Project

Grabill is currently working on the final phases of a luxury home in the Rocky Mountain Region.  This project includes both operable and fixed Avalanche Impact Windows consisting of bronze clad exteriors with walnut interiors .  These windows and doors are as strong as the structure and can withstand the extreme conditions found in the mountain regions.

Avalanche Impact Windows are built to pressure and impact standards higher than the most stringent hurricane codes.  Through reinforced sash and impact rated window and door hardware, we are able to ensure that the glass is held tight in the unit.  Where units come together, Grabill has designed a unique system of integrating and concealing structural steel that maintains clean lines and the architectural beauty.

Meet our Project Coordinator

Tony Benthem is Grabill's Project Coordinator and has been with the company since 2000.  He studied long and hard and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He is the person on the other end of the phone when you are looking for pricing or finding out delivery details.  He also produces the material take-offs and orders to keep the jobs rolling.  He has his hand in every aspect of the job, so if there is something to be told about it, he can likely tell you.  Thus, he has the title Project Coordinator.  Aside from Grabill,  Tony is a proud husband and father to wife Carrie and handsome little 1 year old Konner.  In the event Tony isn't trying to keep Konner out of mischief,  he also enjoys golf, football and working out.  (However.....with a 1 year old..........there really isn't much time for that!)

This current work in progress is heading to Norwalk, Connecticut.  The private residence will soon receive 5 sets of triple lift and slide doors.  These doors consist of painted aluminum exteriors with eucalyptus interiors.  The measurements are 108" x 105" with 2 fixed outside panels and an operable center unit.  Upon delivery the doors will be installed in arched openings to showcase their unique appearance.

It's Time to SHIP!

The preparation for shipment to downtown Chicago is underway.  This particular delivery will include 2 large direct set window units and 4 large lift and slide doors.  The project is in the final stages and included a total of 86 units (both doors and windows) of varying sizes.

When crating these units for delivery we are very careful to ensure our product arrives in the same condition it left the shop.  The units are each individually framed and wrapped - then securely placed in the truck.  Upon completion - they aren't going anywhere!

Happy 2011!

Hope everyone enjoyed a healthy and happy holiday.  We are back to business after a short break and would like to share a few photos of just what we are up to.  To the left, is a beautiful custom door that stands 112" tall.  This will make quite an entrance in the southeastern Michigan home it will adorn.  It is constructed of quarter-sawn Sapele and will have bronze tinted glass upon completion.

The triple panel lift and slide shown to the right expands 20 ft. wide by 9 ft. tall.  It is constructed of Sapele with a dark bronze aluminum clad exterior.  This large door wall has 2 moving panels while 1 will remain fixed.  It also has an all wood low profile sill for a less noticeable transition from the interior
to the exterior.
