Home of the Year features Grabill Bronze Pivot Door

Luxury Aspen Windows – Featured in Mountain Homestyle Magazine

Pivot Door – Grand Entryway for Modern Home

This Chicago property was originally a commercial space, but was converted to a luxury residence with the use of both traditional and contemporary windows and doors. Grabill had the pleasure of providing the custom windows and doors for the Longaberger Eschman Meadows Estate, home of Longaberger Baskets CEO. This 55,000 square foot home rests on 200 acres of rolling meadows just outside of Columbus, OH. Eschman Meadows Estate is currently for sale and listed at $15,000,000. Ultra-Modern Wood Windows

In Progress: Custom Double Doors

Grabill is fabricating double doors out of ponderosa pine for a turn of the century residence in Illinois.   This project incorporates double hung windows with weight and pulley operation, a large fixed casement window and detailed double doors.  Restoration glass will be used and  panels from the original doors have been duplicated to match existing units.  The hand carved intricate detail highlights the historical features of this 1890’s home.

Contemporary Tilt-Turn Windows

Our contemporary styled, multi-function tilt-turn window is operated by a single lever. This allows the window to swing in like a door for maximum ventilation and easy cleaning or to tilt in at the top for indirect ventilation. Our stainless steel multi-point hardware system ensures a tight seal while providing additional security and increased sash stability for oversized units.

Insect screens are installed on the exterior as a fixed or retractable screen. The tilt-turn window is also available in bronze or aluminum clad and is compatible with a wide selection of lever designs, from modern to rustic.
Since our tilt-turn casement systems do not have fixed vertical dividers between sashes, they are ideal for meeting egress requirements while still maintaining elegant sash proportions.

Shoji Sliding Doors by Grabill

Grabill created these custom doors for a luxury retreat in Riverwoods, Illinois.  These Asian inspired doors were constructed of genuine mahogany and consisted of simulated divided lite panels.  The interior Shoji pocket doors, used rice paper laminated on acrylic panels.  This provided increased durability while maintaining the design intent.  Exterior applications specified lift and slide doors that included insulated glass to withstand the northern elements.  These units combined to make a relaxing oasis on the banks of the Des Plaines River.   Visit our website for more information or call us at 810-798-2817 to see how we can transform your next project.

Where an operable unit is not desired, our massive window frames can support large expanses of glass. Grabill Project - Bloomberg Most Expensive Homes

Grabill used American black walnut with bronze cladding to create NFRC-certified, high-performance fixed-in-frame windows, lift-and-slide doors and exterior folding door units. This project also included irregular and oversized windows, motorized clerestory windows and an offset pivot entry door.

Walnut Pivot Door

Grabill Windows & Doors Partner to Win Michigan Historic PRESERVATION NETWORK Award

Grabill is proud to be part of the recent restoration efforts on the Almont Historical Society Museum project.  This building originates from the mid 1800’s and at one point was going to be moved to Crossroads Village in Flint.  Grabill fabricated historically accurate front doors along with decorative upper and lower brackets for the storefront façade.  The transom and windows were restored while much of the original 1850’s glass was maintained.   This project has currently been selected to receive the Michigan Historic Preservation Network 2012 Building Award.  Grabill is proud to be part of the preservation of this local landmark and its historic presence within the community.   Commercial or residential, historical or contemporary, Grabill products range from bronze clad pivot doors to oversized casement windows.  For more information, please visit our website.

Aluminum clad double pivot door and clad windows

Grabill has completed a project in Pitkin County, Colorado that contained multiple aluminum clad pivot doors.  The photo to the right is a double pivot door.  This door has a minimal profile threshold to offer a nearly seamless transition from the interior to the patio with mountain top views.  This custom home has various aluminum clad window options also.  The casement windows surrounding the fireplace have motorized awnings above to allow for adequate ventilation while maintaining the sleek contemporary feel of the home.  Grabill provided a bay window unit off the kitchen that contains high performance large expanse glass for optimal energy efficiency.  This unique aluminum clad window has a white oak interior seat and side vent windows with screens.  The design possibilities offered by Grabill are endless.  If you can envision it………we can make.  For more information on our custom products, please visit our website.

Fire and water restoration windows and doors

Grabill is leading the way for window and door manufacturers in the fire and water restoration arena.  A fire damaged Rochester, Michigan shop was brought back to life with replica Palladian windows and transoms. Grabill fabricated double hung windows and casements with leaded glass panels to exact detail.  Hardware was restored or replaced as needed.  For a different fire restoration project, Grabill manufactured reproduction woodwork including ponderosa pine sash components, interior trim soffet brackets, crown, beveled siding and shutters. Included in the project were fabricated sash using original open mortise and tenon joinery.

A northern Michigan lakeshore home experienced extensive water damage and Grabill was contacted by Belfor to restore and replace damaged window and door units.  This custom entry door was part of the restoration that included inswing doors with outswing screen doors, multi-lite oval windows, operable round pivot windows and outswing and tilt-turn casements.  Grabill products meet Historical Preservation Guidelines and can be constructed to match the original window or door perfectly.
